How it works

Four seconds.
Zero card details. Zero fees to you.

PayTo is Australia's real-time account-to-account rail. Your customer approves the payment in their own banking app — the money moves straight from their account to yours. We never hold it. No one holds it.

1

Customer enters their number

Their mobile is their PayID. No card number, no expiry, no CVC — nothing to type wrong, nothing to steal.

2

Name confirms instantly

The PayID network confirms who they're paying from before a cent moves. Typos can't send money to strangers.

3

They approve in their bank app

One tap inside the banking app they already trust — CBA, NAB, Westpac, ANZ. Your business name, the amount, the 2% fee. All up front.

4

You see it. Immediately.

Instant confirmation on your screen, money in your account the same day — weekends and public holidays included.

The RBA has spoken

Card surcharges die on October 1.
This one doesn't.

From 1 October 2026, the RBA bans surcharging on eftpos, Mastercard and Visa — debit and credit. The RBA doesn't regulate surcharges on non-card payment methods. PayTo is account-to-account, not a card. So the small 2% your customer pays stays perfectly legal — while every card surcharge in the country switches off.

Sources: RBA Review of Merchant Card Payment Costs and Surcharging — Conclusions Paper, March 2026. Surcharging remains permitted on payment methods outside the ban. Always confirm your obligations with your adviser.

Why switch

The maths that makes
your bookkeeper smile.

$0

Free for you, forever

No monthly fee. No percentage of sales. No per-transaction cost to your business. The customer pays a small 2% — it's on their receipt, not your invoice.

Same-day settlement

Money lands in your bank account the day it's paid — not T+2, not after the weekend, not after a UK bank holiday. Your cash flow stops waiting on someone else's banking calendar.

One-off and recurring

Sell a coffee or a 10-class pack. Bill a regular weekly or monthly — with mandates your customer can see and control in their own bank app. Direct debit, modernised.

No hardware, no lock-in

No $499 terminal to buy. No 24-month contract. No exit fees. If you ever leave, your customer list and payment history leave with you — free export, always.

Ways to get paid

One account.
Every way a customer pays.

Whether you take bookings, send invoices, or point at a QR code on your counter — it's the same free account, the same small 2%, the same same-day settlement.

In person

QR on your counter

A virtual terminal in your pocket. Customer scans, approves in their bank app, you hear the cha-ching. No terminal rental, ever.

Remote

Payment links

Text or email a link after a quote, a consult, a deposit request. Paid before they've left the driveway.

Bookings

Free booking platform

Appointments, classes, deposits, no-show protection — the whole booking system is free when you take payments with us.

Regulars

Recurring billing

Memberships, retainers, weekly cleans. Set it once; PayTo handles the pull, the retry, and the paper trail.

Your customer pays 2% per payment, shown clearly before they approve it in their banking app. On a $50 sale that's $1 — the same as the card surcharge they'll no longer be allowed to pay after October 1.

in writing:

The price-lock promise. Free means free — no "introductory" anything. If we ever change the 2%, you get 12 months' notice and your data leaves with you. We've watched what happens when platforms say "free forever" and don't mean it. We mean it.

Fair questions

Asked by every business
owner we meet.

If it's free for me, how do you make money?+
From the small 2% your customer pays per payment — that's the entire business model. No subscription tiers, no upsells you'll "need later", no marketplace commissions. We make money the way a bank does, not the way booking platforms do.
Is the 2% surcharge really allowed after the October 1 ban?+
The RBA's ban covers card surcharging — eftpos, Mastercard, Visa (and Amex voluntarily). The RBA explicitly does not regulate surcharges on non-card payment methods. PayTo is account-to-account, not a card, so a clearly-disclosed fee is permitted. It's shown to your customer before they approve — no surprises, no fine print.
Will my customers actually pay this way?+
They already know the motion — PayTo lives inside the same banking apps they use for PayID, which over 20 million Australians already use. Enter mobile number, see their name, approve in their bank app. Over 90% of Australian bank accounts support PayTo today — and every approval is a payment that can't be charge-backed.
When do I actually get the money?+
Same day — in practice, within seconds of approval, straight into your bank account. Weekends and public holidays included. There's no payout schedule because there's no float: the money moves account-to-account and we never hold it.
What about refunds and disputes?+
You issue refunds from your dashboard in one tap — they settle as fast as the original payment. And because PayTo payments are authorised by the customer inside their own bank, there are no card-style chargebacks. Disputes become a conversation with your customer, not a tribunal run by a card network.
Do my customers need to download an app?+
No. They approve payments in the banking app they already have. If you're using our booking platform, they can book through your branded page in any browser — an optional app for your regulars, never a requirement.
Can I keep my current booking system?+
Yes. Payment links and QR codes work alongside anything — keep Cliniko, Jane, or your paper diary and just change how you get paid. Our free booking platform is there when you want it, not a condition of the payments.
What happens to my data if I leave?+
It leaves with you — customer list, booking history, payment records, exported free in standard formats. Your customers are yours. We think charging hundreds a month to export your own data should be embarrassing, and we won't do it.
